Creating an account:

  1. Click on the sign up button on the top right
  2. Fill out necesary information on following pages.
  3. When asked do you want to teach, choose yes if you want to create a classroom as well and fill out the neccesary information.
  4. When complete check your email to activate your account

 

 

Using the Wire:

  1. Once you have an account you can navigate to your profile by selecting “Profile” from the “My Account” drop down menu.
  2. Notice you have a section called “My Wire” You can make posts to your wire here, which will show up on your profile.
  3. You can also navigate to anyone elses profile and post on their wire as well.
  4. Wires are good to post updates, share specific things with specific people. This is very similar to a Facebook wall.

 

 

Messaging:

  1. Messaging is a great tool for privately interacting with other members including other students and teachers. What a great way to ask a teacher a specifc question.
  2. You can message someone by navigating to their profile and choosing Send Message underneath their larger profile avitar.
  3. You can check your messages by choosing “Messages” from the “My Account” drop down menu. You will notice another drop down which allows you to view your inbox, your sent messages, and write a new message to someone else.

 

 

Friends:

  1. The idea of friends allows you to easily connect and interact with other students and teachers as well. Create a network of teachers and students for you to easily message, share wire posts with, and create and learn from new classrooms together.
  2. From anyones profile page underneath their larger profile avitar we can select “Add Friend” to request friendship, once the other member confirms you will be friends and you will both show up under each other’s friends list.
  3. If someone has requested to be your friend, you will receive an email or a notice on the website requesting that you confirm or deny their friendship.

 

 

Creating a new classroom:

  1. The classroom is where you will do most of your teaching. What you are really creating is a website and blog for as a classroom.
  2. To create a new classroom, from the homepage choose the “Create New Classroom” button from the “My Classrooms” drop down menu.
  3. Fill out all the necessary information on the following pages.
  4. To make your blog private choose make my blog private, however your blog will not appear in the WordPress Classroom list of public classrooms. However you can still share your link with others.
  5. Check your email to activate your classroom.

 

 

Creating a group:

  1. Groups are great to create in combination with a classroom because it allows a place for members who are interacting with your classroom to interact with eachother.
  2. To create a group choose “Create a Group” from the “Groups” menu within the “My Account” drop down menu.
  3. Fill out the name, description and latest new. It is a good idea to add the link to the corresponding classroom in this area. For Example( Visit Our Classrom: http://neiltan.net/wp-mu/wpschool/ ) The url will automatically become a link.
  4. Next choose what kind of privacy options you want, whether or not you want this to be listed in search engines, as well as the WP-Classroom.
  5. Upload a group avitar if you would like, and fill out any other information requested and submit.
  6. Check your email to activate your group.
